Tank or tankless: choosing your next water heater

Upfront cost, running cost and space. What actually matters when your old heater gives out.

Most water heaters fail without warning, which means the choice usually happens under pressure. Here’s the short version so you can decide calmly.

Tank heaters

  • Lower upfront cost and simple to replace
  • Hot water runs out when the tank is empty
  • Typically last 8 to 12 years

Tankless heaters

  • Endless hot water, heated on demand
  • Higher upfront cost, lower running cost
  • Wall-mounted, frees up floor space

Our advice

If your household uses a lot of hot water at once, tankless is worth it. If you need a fast, affordable swap, a new tank does the job well. We’ll give you a fixed price for both.
